D likes Psych quite a bit, and I have to admit it's grown on me as well.

I think it's because the mystery gets me interested like all the other cop procedural shows, but it also has a sense of humor unlike all the other cop procedural shows. It's got this great almost Columbo thing.

I'm on season four of Homicide, like three episodes in. All its other excellent points aside, I'm terribly in love with Meldrick Lewis -- not necessarily Clark Johnson or, by extension, Gus Haynes, but certainly Meldrick. On another note, in an earlier TV thread someone mentioned that "Guess What Network Note They Were Responding To" is a fun game to play with each passing episode. They gave a lot of people haircuts this time around.

Yeah, sure! It's fun and light and fluffy. Doesn't take itself very seriously, and the two leads are great and great together. It's better than Monk, IMO, but then I never really liked Monk.

Psych is sort of similar to Monk and they're on the same network, so that wouldn't be that much of a stretch. The major difference is that where Monk is kind of helplessly neurotic, the central characters on Psych are funny and entertaining.

I need to get into West Wing, but I've already got season 2 of The Wire on pause so I could take a break.

If you like Psych, and want more entertaining TV fluff, you might like Burn Notice. It's basically like an action/suspense/comedy made into a TV show in the exact same style (USA seems to do that pretty consistently with their shows). I enjoyed it over my summer break, though it's not like it's great tv or anything, just fun.

I saw previews for that show. I'm intrigued. And I mean, yeah all the USA shows are pretty much the same (just like all the FX shows are pretty similar) but if you've got a winning formula, why fuck it up?

Hey, Blucas, did you end up watching DaVinci's Inquest in the end?

Sadly no, I watched a couple episodes but then lost it in my computer mishap.  I need to redownload/get back into it.  It was kind of hard to find as I recall.

edit:  Pollo:  tvtorrents has seasons 4-7, and earlier in this thread ellaguru was saying that the first three seasons are just L&O-style one-off mysteries anyway.

Yeah, it gets really interesting starting about the middle of season 3. The earlier stuff is good, but pretty standalone, and not really much different from typical cop procedural fair. The later stuff is pretty fantastic, and very different from American TV (except HBO).

Popped into my brain because my mom & sister just finished called me to tell me they'd finished watching Intelligence (by the same people), which is also pretty great, and easier to find torrentially.

It should get easier to find, though, since season 1 & 2 are finally out on DVD, and 3 is on the horizon.

Cool. I'm a big fan of L&O style procedural one-offs anyway, so I'd like to start from the beginning.

I just watched the first season of Extras. Not sure the last time I've laughed this uproariously.

I only saw bits and pieces cause I kept channel surfing last night cause I kept trying to watch the Golden Globes Announcement but realizing that it was horrible and that I very much want to punch Billy Bush in the face, but OMG RIVER.

I watched almost all of it, 'cause I was really stoned, and terrible television has a certain appeal ...

Not really much to say about it, though.

I slept through quite a bit of it but what I saw, while bad, was mainly bad (I think) because of what it was trying to accomplish, that is, shoehorn into an hour (more or less) (less actually) establishing itself into existing Terminator continuity and then setting up the premise for the series, which is that John Connor, whiny little teenaged bitch/future human rebel leader, his mom, and a hot-ass terminator jump a whopping 8 years into the future to stop Skynet from happening.  Because, um, all the stuff they did in the past to stop Skynet from happening didn't stop Skynet from happening.  Or whatever  So basically this episode was all setup and possibly not terribly indicative of what the show will actually be like.  I am not optimistic about the show but I'll watch an episode or two to see how it goes.
