Actually, if those battle packs are the little kid star wars figures, my list is similar. I got my oldest nephew two of those, a Lego Castle set with a knight and a skeleton jousting, a Cars (the movie) wallet, and the Princess Bride on DVD. And something else I think, I've forgotten.

I'm getting my dad a t-shirt from Ireland's four Fields, because its a bar we drank at and he liked, and he likes drinking and t-shirts that commemorate drinking
I'm getting my mom a sweatshirt that says american university washington college of law on it, cause she's my mom, and she wears the university of montana one all the time.

I am, as far as I know, completely done with my Christmas shopping. I did all of it without leaving the house. I think I got everyone books, DVDs, or CDs. I bought Concetta some underwear as well.

My family has even kind of given up on the Hanukkah presents for the most part. We maybe have a couple of little token things but that's usually about it these days. Two years ago, my mom gave everyone a copy of this book
Extraordinary Chickens
, with all of these amazing photographs of weird breeds of chickens. I think I might have mentioned how cute I find the
Polish Frizzles
on the board before. They're like tiny white Big Birds. Anyway, my brother countered the following year with the book
Monkey Portraits
for everyone. It might be my turn to round up some odd/cute animal coffee table book, since apparently that's the new tradition.

So far I bought a book "Little Bunny's Christmas" (or something like that) and a Leapfrog drum and maracas set for my nephew.
I have no idea what to give the rest of my family.
I have been contemplating paying off one of Frank's credit cards for xmas, but that sort of a weird gift.

I can't speak for Frank but I would love someone forever if they did that for me.

On the one hand, I would find this awesome, on the other hand, It might make me feel like the card's not mine to use if someone else paid it off, and I'd feel guilty if I ran up debt on it again. . . you know him, so maybe you're the one to best gauge what his response would be.
I haven't bought anything at all yet.

I just got something for someone and I am patting myself on the back that I had a ton of foresight and it worked out in such a timely fashion.

I'm giving out at least a few of these, because two of my aunts went to OU and many of the people I know have at least some tangential connection to Athens:
It's a scan of a Frank Ching drawing from 1976 showing pretty much the entirety of our little college town of Athens, OH. The perspective is fish-eyed, with town all bowing out from a point at the intersection of Court and Washington streets. Every building is in meticulous detail, all the cross streets and campus locations. You can see the convocation center down in the upper left corner. Around the outside of the map, in perfect exacting print, are names of various points on the globe and their distances in miles from Athens (Columbus 75, Jakarta [actually Djakarta on the map] 9696, Chicago 390, etc.). It's a pretty incredible print IRL, about 26x26. My parents bought it in '77, and it hung in our living room my entire childhood. When I moved out, I took it with me. I've been wanting to make a hi-res scan of it for years, and last week I took it out of the frame and verrrry carefully removed it from the matting and did just that. I scanned it in at 400dpi, and it looks amazing. I only post the lo-res version here because I'm not sure how I feel about the super hi quality file drifting around out there in the ether

yeah, that sounds like the same star wars packs. what did you get? i got battle for gneosis (sp) and sith battle or something. i did some shopping around. i found them at walmart for 20 bucks a piece! toys r us and target and amazon have them for $24.99.
wow they are similar. yeah, the castle legos! i have to buy that one, plus the skeleton tower and the castle itself. kid told me all he wants are legos and star wars. i started out small because i still have hopes of finding these things cheaply.

i am buying my LA friends versions of the same things. a glass from anthropologie with the first letter of their name on it. i am doing my christmas cards right now. i thought about skipping it this year (weird to think about being single now that it's christmas time) but a gal that a work with talked me into it by saying that it's so great to get mail and not enough people send it anymore. she's right. and i appreciate my friends and family even more than usual this year.
my dad sends a list of what he wants. it tends to be rare books that none of us can find and then clothes that we get him.

The bloke has a stash of duty-free/overseas gifts that he's bought through the year and he's off to NZ the week after next, so more shopping opportunities. I've done bugger all. I live in denial about Christmas until about the week before. I have a stash of small stocking-fillers for the 7 year old, but I over-did it last year and so did his dad and he got way too many things. Always a dilemma.
