Congratulations to all of you who have had stuff to be happy about on the last couple of pages! Especially to Sarah, because you're awesome and I've been continually puzzled over the last months or more about your lack of luck in finding a job and it's great to hear that it's finally worked out!

I just received Carl Wilson's book in the mail! I thought it was getting pretty unlikely, because it was sent more than one month ago, but it's finally here! It's making me really happy, because I love getting stuff in the mail a lot and I was getting really worried.

Thanks! Faith in the postal system is a cornerstone of my life. I'll lend you the book if it's worth it (which it probably will be) and if you have the time to read.

Also making me happy: the fact that you seem to have an internet connection at home (?)

Nah, it's just that my work ethos is going down already in the second week Wink

(which is to say: I'm doing a bit of internet research at the moment so I figured checking into LPTJ a bit doesn't hurt)

Right, but unless I'm out of my mind, you posted yesterday and said something that seemed to imply you were at home. Or are you working Sundays already?

So, the power finally came back on around 11:00, and I've been sitting bundled up in the house, trying to talk myself into going outside to shovel the driveway and sidewalk because the snow looks like that really heavy, wet snow and I didn't really feel like dealing with it. I just went out to find that someone plowed me out. (?) A huge swath of the driveway was plowed, the sidewalk was done, it only took me like 10 minutes to clean up the entrance to the house and the front of the garage door. There's no note, nothing. Thank you, anonymous helpful person!

Well. It looks like I'm getting a raise in February. And I think I'm kind of getting a promotion. So that should be okay.

Also, I think I'm going to make some potato soup. So that should also be okay.

you know, this might seem stupid to most of you, but i'm really proud of myself that i went to the grocery store tonight with a full list and bought a whole ton of groceries tonight. and real ones, ones i can make meals out of, not just processed crap. it cost me $65, but it's worth it considering how often i go out and spend $5-10 at a crack for meals. in the end, i'll save a lot of money because of this.

awesome, andrew! also, a lot of things you make can be frozen and saved for later dates. i like doing this and thinking i have NO food to take to work, then i'm like "oh wait, i froze some soup/pasta/whatever last month! i have lunch!" so yeah. it's awesome.

yeah, i bought ingredients for lasagna, and i may very well end up freezing some of it, considering that last time i made one i ate off it for over a week.

I always forget about freezing stuff. Shit. I could have such a variable diet, but I always do the make something and eat it for a week thing. Like tonight. I have SO MUCH potato soup. Which makes me happy and all, but y'know.

I usually make two big meals during the weekend and eat them all week for lunch and dinner.

Eh.  It works.

Booked a ticket to NYC. I have a return flight, too, but more importantly I have a ticket to NYC.
