4 of 4 people found the following review helpful:
2.0 out of 5 stars This blue screened on me, 26 Dec 2007
By I hate Pems "I hate Pens" (NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This BIC Crystal ballpoint pen worked for a couple of days for me. I was able to boot it up by removing the cap and write some letters. The lack of features aggravated me a bit. As other users pointed out there is no spell check, or drivers bundled with the package. But I was able to make due. It wrote in very wonderful blue ink. I did notice that the more I used the pen the slower it got. I kept rebooting it by placing the cap and taking it off. This did little to help me. I am assuming the registry is getting too big, but due to the lack of instructions I cannot access the registry. I wrote "regedit" thousands of times on a paper, but the Registry Editor never started. I left the pen laying on the table for hours, but the screen saver NEVER once came on. (I like the scrolling markee but alas it never started.) i tried to interface it with an old dictionary, but I could not find even one USB or serial port. Then after only three days of use, the ink came out of the pen and spilled all over the paper. Tech support could not help me with the Blue Screen of Death. I am fed up with this pen and will never use it again.
I HATE IT.

4.0 out of 5 stars HDMI Support lacking, otherwise amazing resolution
I just unpacked my pen last night and I am amazed at the clarity and color in such a small device! I must say that I was initially disappointed that it did not contain an HDMI 1.3 cable but as soon as I sat back and watched the quality my bad feelings were gone. It can literally produce over several hundred dots per square inch, which is currently unrivaled. Plus, the price is very reasonable for this level of quality.

When dave and I were at the bar, this proletariat had the nerve to walk by us AND use our bathroom, and neither of us said anything, and we totally had this moment where it was like we knew what the other person was thinking and we were just looking at each other like "
you
crush his spirits! no
you
crush his spirits!"

Things are generally going pretty well at the moment it would seem (making some progress regarding social life in the new town, promising first contacts for research-related interviews, excellent working conditions at this university, cool people sending me cool stuff in the mail, etc. etc.), but here's one thing that is particularly good: Yesterday my primary PhD advisor did a talk at our graduate school about the first phase of PhD research and what to take into account and how to deal with some important issues, and I totally came out of it with a "WOW, that woman is fucking good" kind of feeling - not only did she make some excellent points and gave great advice, but she was really familiar with everyone's research plans and specifically addressed issues related to everyone's projects (except mine, but of course we have dedicated meetings for that). And today I had a conceptual meeting with both her and my secondary advisor and, you know what, he's not too shabby either. I feel like I'll be getting some amazing supervision out of these people the next couple of years, and that makes me feel a whole lot less angsty and insecure about doing this graduate research thingy.

While on the bus, thinking about how I don't write enough lately, I wrote some lyrics that I like okay. I got home, and stared at the guitar, trying to will a riff into existence. It felt futile, but sure enough, I picked up the guitar, and out came the main riff, just like that. And then the next part, and the part after that. And now I have a finished song to bring into the next band practice. Though I don't know if we'll practice tomorrow or not 'cause I think I might have bronchitis.

I just got an e mail back from the owner of a children's store I applied to almost a month ago!
If I'm still interested in the position, she hopes I'll get in touch with her when I get back!

Also I need to not smoke cigarettes. I didn't smoke any today, but I have been smoking a lot lately, and that surely doesn't help.

Hey, I guess this justifies a posting of my own in the happy thread! Which is to say - this all makes me very happy. Further reasons for happiness being shortly related in the recently seen shows thread.
