"Borrow"/"lend" is also kinda like "infer"/"imply." I like "borrow" as "lend" because it sounds sweet! I like "infer" as "imply" because the "f" suggests "confide," the "er" whisper -- like "imply" but with a wink and a shhh, secretive, you know. Quick Googling says this usage has been common for a long while. Well, see, that is good. Don't like "compose"/"comprise" because a teacher I had a crush on high school was a stickler about it; saw "comprised of" in the New York Review of Books, though, so I think bein' an asshole about it is a lost cause. Anyways! Carry on, language!

I like to say "borrow" because I usually say it like "boarrow" and that's fun for me.

If you're travelling to the North Country Fair, where the wind hits heavy on the borderline: Remember me to the one who lived there, for she once borrowed me a book

In other news, it seems like Newcastle might actually not be a laughing stock this season!

Oh, Marinus!

I thought for a moment about how to explain to people who don't follow the English Premier League just how badly wrong Newcastle United have proved me, and I'm stumped. It's been pretty goddamn bad.

At least my fantasy football team is doing really well.
