We're aiming for a 30% MS for VRUs by 2020, subject to PT funding being made available via the TMG Committee (SDCC and DLRCoCo compliance notwithstanding).  Otherwise the MS figures will be skewed for the purposes of the TAGM and the accuracy of the RPG/NSS projections will be even more questionable.

Everyone I can see from this desk would understand that, but I'd hazard that few LPtJers would.

We're aiming for a thirty per cent manuscript for viruses by twenty twenty, subject to part time funding being made available via the the mountain goats committee (san diego compassionate care and dealer conan o'brian compliance notwithstanding). Otherwise the microsoft figures will be skewed for the purposes of the total asshole gay men and the accuracy of the role playing game/norwegian secret service projections will be even more questionable.

I bet you feel silly, now, Dr. Bob.

The prices of the sets do seem a bit nuts. I got my cousin's kid a Toy Story Lego set that was about $20.. All I really wanted was a giant bucket of blocks, but there weren't any in Target.

And that's the other thing: 90% of the Lego products currently on the market are movie tie-ins. LAME. Michael Chabon wrote an essay about this, basically saying that if you want to build something of your own design, using pieces from various Lego sets, you're going to have a pop-culture mash-up on your hands.

I think last Christmas we were shopping around and eventually did find basically a big bucket of Lego--way in the back of the toy section.  There were maybe three of them.  You probably gotta search--they're out there.

I see plenty of Duplo/MegaBloks buckets, but it's been a long long time since I saw a Lego bucket.

I bet if you hit up some garage sales or such things, you could strike gold.
My friend/roommate Tom brought over a HUGE tub of them a couple months ago. We didn't get anything done for a week.

If I did that I'd go all nuts with sanitation.

Even though I'm an adult I'm pretty sure I couldn't resist putting a lego in my mouth.

We used to wash it every couple of weeks when I worked in school age care. it's very hard to keep it out of your mouth, especially if your fingernails are short or weak - sometimes there's no other way to separate those pesky bricks!

I can think of approximately 4 million things I'd rather do than wash a set of Lego blocks.

Why do I feel like Last Plane has had the "washing Lego bricks" conversation before?  Was that a million years ago in a thread that got ate or am I just drunk?

Seems like you could make very short work of it with a large strainer.

I think washing a set of lego bricks would be very calming for me.

I will wash everyones legos from now on.

Although a few months ago i did fill up my bath tub with water and then put in a whole bunch of balls of yarn and sat in it with my clothes on, so I could just be weird that way.

Nah, just call it performance art. Something about getting closer to your materials.

I was getting paid for it ;-)

Fill up a sink with water with some pine-o-cleen or whatever, swish it around dump the lego in, swish it around again, drain, rinse, strain, leave to dry on a towel. Like Ashley said, calming. I also used to have to wash and dry 80+ plastic mugs. Very theraputic.

I do, Bernard, I do, but it's worth it to see the Trip Attraction and Generation Model referred to as total asshole gay men.  I can see it catching on!

(We do actually have a TMG Committee- it's Traffic Management Grants.  Even after 4 years I can't help a little smile every so often at its mention.)

I can remember 10 digit phone numbers that I haven't used in years without a problem, but I have a the hardest time remembering and associating various acronyms with the words they represent. I suppose I have no future in traffic analysis or urban planning or whatever it is the Doctor does.

Or library science, for that matter.

this was the thing. THE GATEWAY OF THE SQUID!

my main beef with lego these days is that all the pieces are way way too specialized.

this.

I think it's the reason the 9yo doesn't really play with it - you can only make one thing with it, and that one thing is kind of complicated, and if you're not great at reading instructions you're fucked.

They had a big display up in Target today featuring Lego Games, which I guess is their new thing. They looked pretty fun.

Purchased.  I will be assembling that and displaying it prominently in my apartment for years to come.
