ha yeah.  my student loan company did the same thing, so now i have to remember who i put down as my favorite teacher and my first pet's name every time i go to pay my bill.

Mine asked me 20 questions including stuff like my favourite colour and favourite animal. I wrote them back a very snotty email to point out that I am not an eight year old girl and, as such, I do not have a favourite colour or favourite animal. Who thinks up this stuff?

Yeah, so my colon can just chill the fuck out this morning. I have no idea what I ate that made it decide to assert itself, but pooing 3 times in a morning just isn't okay.

Oh, dear! Time to necro Jeb's poop thread?

Anyway, if I could just focus my brain for three or four hours, that'd be fantastic; and if it were the second week of March, and I had a sense of what I'd be up to in September, that'd be even better.

Ok so my flu thing has pretty much finally run its course, but now I have the most horrific cough I've ever had.  It's not like a little tickle in the throat, it's like something is on the inside of my lungs kicking and screaming.  My coughs are HUGE and PAINFUL.  My throat is stiffening up and my teeth are sore and feel kind of loose from the violent face shaking that has been going on.  I wish I had an mp3 of this cough, I'd ysi it.  It is downright evil.

The multivitamins and sobriety seemed to have helped the flu thing.  You guys have any suggestions for deep, body-shaking coughs?  Cough drops and vicks vapor rub so far have done nuthin.

an expectorant - umm, not sure what the most common brand name is, i bought generic at walgreens.  ah, apparently Mucinex is the brand name.

the active ingredient you're looking for is 'guaifenesin'.  its supposed to "loosen phlegm and loosen bronchial secretions to rid the bronchial passageways of bothersome mucus and make coughs more productive"

a lot of cough products combine that with dextromorphan - the ingredient in cough syrup - but i specifically looked for a product that had it individually, since dextromorphan can make you loopy.  you might try both if you want to though.

Cool.  Thanks.  The thing is, though, that nothing really feels mucusy.  I cough up a little here and there but there really isn't any mucus at all in my throat right now.  My lungs just feel weak and tired and my throat is really dry to the point where breathing in kind of stings... I can't tell whether the throat sting triggers the cough or something in my chest but it sort of seems like a combination of both.  Am I still looking for guaifenesin?

If it's a dry cough, making yourself cough more, which guaifenesin does, will fuck you up sooner than it will make you get better. Sounds like a simple cough suppressant would be more helpful, so you stop using your energy coughing and start to feel better. This opinion is the son of the pharmacist, so take it with a grain of multivitamin. Or salt.

i agree. if nothing is moving gook-wise, i'd go for the cough suppressant. things with a DM formula are good, I've had really good success with Delsym, and I've been pleasantly surprised by Tylenol cough and sore throat liquid nighttime formula.

i'd recommend the tylenol if the other symptoms are still really getting the best of you, or delsym if its just straight up for the cough.

It took me a number of reads to figure out that what you were saying here was not some weird anti-Asian slur

Get yourself some nice tea and drink it by the gallon. I was drinking water and gatorade throughout my bout with the flu and I still ended up really dehydrated. I still have a bit of a dry cough. It's a pain in the ass.

Dearest Augo, I think you might want to go to an urgent care. That sounds like pneumonia. I had it twice, and that painful, unproductive cough is it, along with the restricted breathing. At any rate, I think it is time to meet Mr. Lung X-ray. Please take care of your bad self. Sorry to sound like a mom, but I worry.

Thanks maggie.  I could have pneumonia!  It makes sense.  At my job I have to go in and out quite often (four or five times and hour) and I rarely put on a jacket...so I'm constantly going from 70 degrees to about 10 degrees (or less, lately) for about five minutes and then back to 70... all just in a t-shirt.  That's the sort of thing that gives a guy pneumonia, isn't it?

Can we get your mother to yell at you about this? It didn't seem to sink in the first time.

So I was under the impression that I was supposed to meet with my advisor at 2:30 this afternoon but as it's almost 3, I'm wondering if either he missed me or if I did something wrong in scheduling it... Either way, this is why I never do individual meetings. I usually get jerked around.
