I can't decide if I'm relieved or disappointed that it's not real bacon.

if it was real bacon, you'd eat your wallet within 3 days and then be mad at yourself.

yeah, seriously, getting bitten in the ass by a large angry dog is enough of a threat anyway without giving them additional reason.

So you remember when I was thinking about joining that women's group in the city and was worried that it was gonna be like a Victorian ladies' parlour society deal and Greg Nog said "don't forget to ask them about the India question" and then I actually went to some of their coffee mornings and it was just a bunch of down to earth ladies with infants hanging out and I had a lot of fun?
Well, last night I went to one of their dinners and it turns out that the modern day equivalent of the parlour society is talking about who you knew back in the day during your separate tenures at Ralph Lauren in New York and how much you miss your gay guy friends because they're always so much fun!
They were very kind and we were all trying to connect but, also, they were being very kind because I didn't know some English lady who lives in the same city as I do and who apparently owns a chain of fancy overpriced shoe shops in London.
And the India question was me asking politely how they had reached the conclusion that the reason September 11 was such a unique tragedy was because:
a) the citizens of any other city would have used it as an excuse for everything that went wrong for years afterwards whereas New Yorkers just toughed it out and got on with things (you know, unlike the inhabitants of every other city that's ever been the target of a single terrorist attack or, indeed, a sustained bombing campaign), and
b) nobody was ever brought to justice for it so nobody else can possibly understand what it was like (you know, unlike the inhabitants of every other city that's ever been the target of a single terrorist attack or, indeed, a sustained bombing campaign).
Fortunately, just before the conversation was about to dance madly beyond the point of no return, a gorgeous belly dancer grabbed my wrist and that of the lady with whom I was talking, and the dancer tried to get us to dance. The other lady went off to dance and I sat there eating baklava and concluding that I would have hated Victorian ladies' parlour society.

Maybe the problem is that it's all rich ladies...?

Well, the baklava wasn't that great, but at least I got to crush on an adorable belly dancer lady, even if I was too shy to actually dance with her.

Well then, that's all you need. And now you know that if you ever want to become a belly dancer yourself, you could use the stage name "India Problem".

I love pissing off the boingboing moderators. Every time they post about another turd that Gamma-Go has squeezed out, I have to get my two cents in, and apparently a lot of others do as well. Maybe it's because G-G makes fucking hideous clothing, and then has the gall to charge 2x or 3x what it's worth. And also that they advertise non-stop on boingboing. And that boingboing seems to feel the need to give them more free advertising by blogging about these ass ugly t-shirts and things.
Anyway, the shirt to which I am referring is one that features "I [PIRATE] MUSIC" on the chest, which is sort of amusing. Except that three or four people in the comments pointed out that the real pirate-y thing to do would be to copy the design and sell your own t-shirts at a cut rate, and all of these comments were summarily deleted.

As long as we're complaining about Boing Boing, allow me to be the first to say:

Are we complaining about BoingBoing? Because I would like to register my tiredness at Cory Doctorow continuing to use the phrase "Underwear Perverts" whenever he's talking about superhero comics.

I wouldn't have known about the New Yorker's Eustace Tilley contest if it wasn't for BoingBoing, actually. I mean, I guess I could have just read the New Yorker for that, but Cory Doctorow's subway map DRM T-shirts are still less annoying than the New Yorker's awful fucking cartoons.

I don't! Honest to god. R___ does, but I've never had any patience with it. I could just save them the bandwith, make a page that says LAWRENCE LESSIG LIFEHACKS CTHULU STEAMPUNK MICKEY MOUSE ACTION FIGURES and then click refresh over and over.
