The cute things 1 year olds do and say, part 723:
Hyejung : 'What doyou fancy for lunch?'
Me : 'Someting spicy'
Grace (to the tune of The Fiery Furnaces' 'Tropical Iceland') : 'Spicy Spicy!'
That hat is boss!

Here is a photo of me enjoying a beer at the Map Room last week. Other people gaze on in envy of the awesomeness of my beer.
I have possibly never seen another human enjoy a beer so
hard
. I kind of need a cigarette, now.

Wait, there are other ways to enjoy beer?

I kind of wanted a cigarette at that moment too, but I often do when I'm drinking beer.
Here is a picture from Ian's birthday. Someone else took this pic; no clue why they saved it as a gif so don't ask.

He kind of looks like a mob enforcer. Like he just finished beating the cake for not paying protection money, and now he's looking at you all, "NOW WHADDA YOU WAN', AH? FUHGEDDABOUDIT."

That is some dedicated cake consumption. I'd like to see another 'after' shot to see just how far the cake went. He's such a cutie.
And Nick, your two are fantastic! I like the electric guitar your big one has. My 7 year old had one like that for a while, with a mic, but I think it got lost in the separation (ie it's at his dad's and busted). I also liked the 'spicy spicy' quote...

This is proof that I did not dream the last week, and I am going to A REAL JOB on Monday, and this is the first real offer letter that I have ever been, um, offered in my life.
This is why I briefly considered declining the job and moving to Hawaii, except in Hawaii there are hurricanes and I do not look good with a tan.

Ooh, nice snow. i find the idea of living somewhere where you might wake up one morning and not be able to find your car because it's been covered by snow vaguely amusing. Especially the concept that you might then not see it for a few more weeks if the monster snow plow has come past. Not to laugh at your situation specifically, you understand. I was in Boston one winter and could barely contain myself when I saw a car that had been buried in such a way that there was no way it was going to go anywhere for months!

I was talking to my buddy in Hawaii the other day. He's one of the few people who have ever said "Fuck it I'm moving to Hawaii" and then promptly fucked it and moved to Hawaii.
And incidentally he said that it'd been a little cloudy that morning but now everything was in sharp hot 86 degree focus.

oh, you'd stop finding it funny once you woke up some morning or other, discovered your car in that situation, then realized you had 20 minutes to get to work.

Well indeed. I'm sure it's some kind of schadenfreude that has me giggling anyway. I know I'd get annoyed pretty bloody fast if I was in it. However I don't like hot either. Clearly I need to move to NZ.

I have spent all weekend admiring Grace's dance stance, Ellie's nonchalance, and Ian's look of absolute satisfaction.
Edited to correct the name of Nick's wonderful daughter.

H ha - thank you! And we shouldn't overlook Jim's impression of a lusciously bearded Philip Seymour Hoffman in the grip of orgasmic beer-induced pleasure. That's making a HUGE contribution to the joy of this page for me, and I'm generally anti-beard.
But it's Ellie, noe Ella

My best friend got it for Richard as a Jesusmas present, and I (ab)use it by drinking soymilk out of it.

That it is neither a Grog nor an Ale and is probably in fact something more likely to be served at Soytopia: An Ecological and Sociopolitical Clarity Bar than at the Dude and Catastrophe?
