So...what you guys are saying is that I might enjoy this book more if I listen to Master of Reality first. Is that right?

*ducks for cover*
No what we're saying is you might enjoy life more if you stop everything you are doing, go as quickly as you can to the nearest record store and purchase the first four Black Sabbath albums, clear your calendar for the next 2 or 3 weeks, and make up a little for all the time you've lost.

I know. I fell in with a bad crowd in highschool. No Sabbath, no Maiden, none of that, just a lot of Smiths albums. I'm trying to mend my ways, though.

Actually the best thing about the Black Box is the remastering is literally good enough that I learned new little tics to come to expect from the record.  That little I don't know what you call it, echo of the fret before Iommi does the Iron Man riff, for example.

You're saying that like a.) it's a bad thing, and b.) it's not what you (we) do most days anyway

No.  I think I'm thinking about another song now, and I got confused.  Will listen to first 6 albums in order, and report back.

Ok it's actually on the song Paranoid, on it after the 'Dit daaaaah dah' parts, several times the guitar emits a sort of anomalous bleep just after the end of that phrase.  I'm guessing it's resulting from Iommi lifting his finger vigorously enough from the high E string to let it sing out or something.

The awesome part is the fact that I listened to that song about 8643 times on vinyl in middle school because there was a stoner who ran a record shop in the small ass town next to us with super reasonable prices so everything me and my friends owned from before 1980 was on vinyl, and then I listened to it about 3000 more times when I bought a copy on CD in high school.  And I never heard those blips until I bought this set.

From the above link:

But as flawlessly realized as this CD is, the men of Black Smiths aren't the best parodists of Osbourne and Morrissey out there. That honor has to be reserved for Ozz and Mozz themselves.

I was just at a 33 1/3 event at housing works cafe and it was indicated (by a hwc volunteer) that there'd be a masters of reality reading here in may. (i'm guessing around the 16th when the aids walk ny benefit show is.) is this confirmed? if not i guess i'll murk this. if so do you have any details?

How the heck did I miss this? Is the sample still available, or should I just wait for the book?

Also, there are people out there that don't like Black Sabbath?  I guess I'm not wiling to accept that.

I can't imagine my mom much cares for Black Sabbath. But I'm with you in principle, anyway. I mean, what IS up with THAT?

a friend of mine who got into metal through hardcore and had never heard them until she was like 19 turned up her nose upon first listen. according to her, the problem with it was the vocals. she couldn't understand why ozzy wasn't screaming.

i may have told this story on here before, but it's so weird that i felt it would bear repeating.
