In the third year of the Writers Guild deal, writers will be paid a percentage of the distributor’s revenue rather than the flat fee for Web-streamed television shows granted to the directors. The writers had insisted on this issue to ensure they not lose out on any new-media windfall the studios and networks may get from Web video. The producers yielded on this point — and the directors did not push it —arguing that Internet distribution is unlikely to become a significant business during the length of these contracts.

The ironing

WTF? What the hell have the producers and directors been smoking?

Two recently discovered shows are doing it for me right now. Firstly, Trailer Park Boys is the shit. But (hopefully) everybody knows this by now. What I really want to know is if anyone has seen a show by the name of Monkey Dust?

So I just finished Season One of Heroes.  It was all right.  Exciting enough.

By the way, pollo, I liked Season 2 of Slings and Arrows much more than season 1.  And not just because it has the lead vampire from Forever Knight in it.

And speaking of Canadian TV, I just started watching Twitch City a little while ago.  It's odd; some amusing parts, but really slow-moving.  I'm not sure it would keep my interest if it didn't feature the widow from Deadwood.

God, I'm so glad the strike is almost over.  Look at me here, watching CBS comedies like a douchebag.

Yeah, even I haven't stooped to that level.

(But if I had VH1, I'd be watching "Rock of Love 2" so I'll shut up.)

In my defense, it's only because you can watch all Cashmere Mafia episodes online for free.  And Bonnie Somerville is predictably cute.  It's really heinous, but in the same watchable-trainwreck way Sex and the City was.  "Lipstick Jungle" is like the Candace Bushnell version of Studio 60.  So.  much.  sanctimony.  It's not even bad in a fun way.

its kind of funny how Lost actors pop up on old episodes of other shows.  right now Benjamin Linus is looking crazy and pointing a shotgun at vincent d'onofrio's face on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.  maybe this is the role that won him the Lost role.

So I've been sick for a few days now, and am trying to take it easy and rest, and somehow that translated to watching the first 14 episodes of Lost today. Oh man. I almost didn't want to like it because I've gotten to the point of rolling my eyes when people say how awesome it is, but it's pretty good. Definitely watching more tomorrow.

dude, now that you mention it, did you see that there's going to be a second MeTV?  I am PSYCHED.

Andrew, I'm going to bring it up any time someone brings up Lost in this thread.  The producers of that show don't respect their audience, and they don't respect their writers.  They have an inflated sense of their own importance, both creatively (outside writers wrote most of the best eps) and in the industry.  They can fuck themselves.  I will never tire of saying so.  I don't give a fuck if I'm shrill and annoying about it.

dude, if i berated you every time you mentioned drinking beer, you'd get tired of it really fast, would you not? you're not going to stop drinking beer just because i don't like the idea of drinking beer*, and it's not like you don't know what my reasons for having an issue about drinking beer are. you just don't view those reasons as reason enough. well, i don't view your objections as reason enough to stop watching lost, and i'm sure that everyone else who's choosing to watch lost doesn't either, so i don't see what purpose you think these continual complaints will serve. if the people who made lost posted here, that would be one thing, but as it is, your protests on this message board are about as effective as teenage kids deciding to protest mcdonalds by making messes in the dining room. it does nothing to deter mcdonalds' corporate agenda--all it does is fuck some other nobody's day up.

so really--chill out. you're wasting your breath (metaphorically speaking), and you're bumming everybody out. i have mad love for you, and that's no joke, but this is getting on my nerves.

*--also, i don't actually care if you drink beer, as long as you don't try to make ME drink beer, but it was the first analogy that came to mind, and i thought it would serve the purpose well enough.

I realize that I'm being shrill, annoying, and overbearing about it.

I just really can't stand Carlton Cuse and Damen Lindoff.  On like, ten different levels.  The scab-action just being the most accessible.

I mean, you're a nice person in that you don't get all dogmatic every second, and I respect and appreciate that, but don't begrudge me pulling a pollo in this one instance.
