I gave up on Ally McBeal. (It was the musical episode at the end of season 3 that finally pushed me over the edge.) I'm watching 30 Rock now. You guys are right. It's pretty funny.

it's sad how this thread is so...alone.

anyway, I'm almost finished with S3 of the Wire. I just watched the episode where McNulty left his kids at home sleeping to fuck the campaign lady. I think I officially don't love McNulty anymore. Yeah.

Also, for some reason, I was under the impression that Avon was in on the whole thing with D getting killed, but the reaction he just got from Stringer tells me he wasn't.
Interesting.

Whoa, no, Avon DEFINITELY wasn't in on it. That was Stringer by his own damn self.

I don't know why I assumed that, but I'm glad Avon wasn't in on it.

Have I mentioned how much I love season 3? The Stringer/Avon plot is still my favorite thing in all of The Wire.

It's awesome how every season just gets better and better. When I was mid s2, I was all "Damn, S1 was the best" and then "damn, S2 was awesome" and now it's "fuck, S3 is awesome." I'm gonna try to finish it up today since there's A MILLION INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND.

it amuses me that a tossed off john mayer lyric* became a pretty standardly used word within the span of 5 years. but i haven't seen that show and don't care enough to check out the "webisodes". i can imagine that it's probably hella fuckin mediocre.

It's also a book that I think might predate the song. I distinctly remember recieving large shipments of it when i worked at Barnes & Noble and being all HAY GUYS I ARE MARKETABLE.

Yeah the term definitely predates that John Mayer song.

The John Mayer song reinforces the fact that it's a term only douchebags use though.

Clearly you're not aware of the hilarity of John Mayer?

there was a big article in the l.a. weekly a while ago about all the hollywood talent agencies making departments dedicated to youtube/myspace video/whatever and how they're all snatching up and "developing" shows and movies based on shitty youtube videos.

things are gonna go from bad to worse.

I've seen him be funny in interviews but writing the song "Daughters" = automatic douchebag-for-life

And now, a line that I recall from the Quarterlife commercial.

"If she, you know, makes it through the night, wanna go out sometime?"

That sound you hear is me gouging out my eyes

Well, my cousin is recording season five of The Wire for me, and, though I've only season 1-3, I have 1-4 on DVD, so now is the time to start at the beginning again, and watch the whole series straight through.

Starting...now!

you're right, that predates the john mayer song, but only by 4 months. weird. i wonder if the authors and john mayer both came up with it at the same time, independently of each other.

hey what did you all think of that there Lost show last night?  i was a little underwhelmed for a season premiere.  i know they're starting from where they left off, but there were moments of last nights episode that were just plain cheesy.  it felt like they were compelled to create a Lost for beginners episode, becuase towards the end of the show they had an ad saying "Its not to late to get Lost!"  i don't know, overall i guess it was a promising start, but did they really have to throw in the line

Bernard: Hugo, if you want to cannonball: cannonball.

or

Kate: what are you doing?
Sawyer: doing what i've always done.  survivin'

just felt a little too slow and melodramatic.  i thought they should have got things off to a more dyanamic start.  but we'll wait and see.  i'm interested to know who the 6 are.  i hope the flash forwards don't get too confusing with the flash backs.  i will now open it up to the rest of the floor.
