I know we're not at all responsible for the popularity of that show round these parts but you and I and Andrew were talking that shit up a looooong time ago, it seems like

I think the world really caught on toward the end of the 4th season

Yeah, I've said this before, but for the first three seasons I just kind of assumed it would be "Homicide" with swears, and since it was on a premium channel I didn't really make the effort.  I wish I had sooner!  

Also we quickly forget that it was much more of a pain-in-the-ass to pirate TV shows even 4 years.

"Breaking Bad" is good, but I think I need to rewatch the first two episodes sober.

Well see the problem with that is that the show actually has to be good

I don't think any amount of talk is gonna make JFC palatable to a wide audience like the Wire was

No, you're not. There are a lot of supporters/fans out there, but it definitely was not made for longevity, I think even you'll admit.

The idea of the forthcoming cop show annoys me for many reasons. Is all.

LPTJ did convince me to watch Battlestar Galactica. I have my mother and brother to blame for The Wire, though.

Well, I must pipe up and say I was onto The Wire from the beginning (well, the DVD beginning, it didn't air at all in Canada the first few seasons), and wasn't blindly following any sort of tastemakers around here on that front, for I am independent!

However, I did only download Breaking Bad because of this thread.

Oh, and Friday Night Lights, too.

Also, I just got a DVD player that'll play video via USB, so I'm watching Weeds direct from my iPod on my telly. That's pretty sweet.

before i actually watch that show someone needs to tell me what the name "breaking bad" is all about, because something about it is really irritating.  I couldn't bring myself to say in a real conversation to someone "hey, catch that episode of...breaking...bad... last night?
