Anyone else jazzed about "John Adams" tonight?

yeah thermo! ep 1 was amazing! the court scene blew my mind. ep 2 just started!

I was blown the fuck away.  Episode 1 was fantastic.  I agree, the court sequences were amazing & the depiction of the tarring & feathering of John Malcolm was horrific.  I thought episode 2 was paced a little less effectively (just by nature of having to switch back and forth between scenes with Abigail @ the Adams homestead and the Continental Congress scenes) but it really came together toward the end.  Giamatti fucking owns this role and makes you privy to his thought processes and inner torment just by the nature of his facial expressions.  Props to the guy who plays Ben Franklin and to the foppish SC delegate.  And I really like the portrayal of Abigail and how much she was valued by John Adams as not just a sounding board but almost a quasi-mentor.

So in addition to being good television, will I learn something about revolutionary-era America by watching this?

Also "the guy who plays Ben Franklin" is friggin Tom Wilkinson son and you best recognize

Absolutely.  There were some interesting details about the Boston Massacre trial & the backroom negotiating that took place at the various Continental Congress sessions that had either been glossed over in high school Civics or were completely new to me.

Yeah I know very little about the specific origins of my country. I know more about WWII-era Europe than revolutionary-era America.

yeah! twas so good i wish they'd play the whole damn thing in one shot. agree about ep 2. it slowed a bit in the middle. i dunno about you, but i haven't been this excited about american history since... forever. i was all over wikipedia reading up on my john adams!
yes! that sc fop, edward rutledge! he was only 26 at the continental congress!
random fact: according to wikipedia, he and his brother john rutledge, were both at the continental congress, and both died the same year, 1800.

i wanna give a shout out for torchwood. it's really grown on me. whatever its faults, it's pretty awesome to see the male star of a sci fi show be openly bi sexual. i mean, fucking finally!!!

there are some fantastic episodes, some dull ones, but it keeps getting better.

oh ok, wordier word then.  i'm semi incompetent when it comes to torrents it seems.
Nah, it's just that piratebay has a bad search function. Use torrentz.com, it links to all major torrent sites.

This might be the case if you're incapable of typing "top chef" into a box and pressing enter, true.

Actually it's because the newer torrents take hours to show up in the search results. Or they used to, I don't know, I use usenet these days.

I watched all of Breaking Bad on Sunday. I liked the concept a lot, but I wish they had spent more time with the chemistry teacher/cancer/meth making thing and less time on the drug deal, or rather everything, goes wrong/body disposal/scared away from making meth thing at the begining. The last couple episodes were great though, the end of episode 6 especially.

I tried to watch "Miss Guided" last night but I turned it off ten minutes in. Between this and the dreadful "Jezebel James," I'm beginning to think female showrunners (e.g., Amy Sherman-Palladino, Caroline Williams) are ruining decent-to-awesome actresses (e.g., Parker Posey, Lauren Ambrose, Judy Greer).

Just kidding I love women kiss kiss

but seriously

hahahha yeah that miniseries was filmed in richmond and they needed lots of extras. a friend of mine was working on the tech crew and drafted several other friends of ours to work as extras. if i ever watch it, i'll let you guys know when, if at any point, you can see anyone i know.

related note: my mom's best friend's little sister is the redhead with her back to the camera standing next to tom hanks when he spits out the caviar in "big".

So.....

The bag is catless.

During the strike I started writing a musical intended as a limited internet series, 3 episodes of approximately 10 minutes each. Writing with me was my brother Jed, his fiancee Maurissa, and my other brother Zack. To my shock and surprise, we finished it. To my greater shock and surprise, we managed (with the help of many people I'll be praising at length soon) to drag it into preproduction (yes, just as DOLLHOUSE was given a start date two months away and all my comics were due.) And today, after a grueling week of writing everything ever while trying to be a producer, I got to start shooting. A musical.

This much I will say: It's the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he's too shy to talk to. And I'm having the time of my life.

"DOCTOR HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG"

Neil Patrick Harris.....as Dr. Horrible
Nathan Fillion..........as Captain Hammer
Felicia Day.............as Penny

And a cast of Dozens!

Coming soon.

-j.

joss

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Sadly enough, I'm way more excited about this than "Dollhouse"
