It was hard for me to respond to Andrew except in a way that was very curt because while the World Bank has received a lot of fair criticism in the past I find it difficult to believe that working with one of the largest groups providing free HIV/AIDS medication to developing countries is a "surefire recipe for failure."  And I don't know what the alternative is to the IMF - That is, when a country gets to a point where they need an IMF bailout, I don't know what the other options are.

I usually clean the outside of my ears with q-tips so I don't think I'm in danger of perforating my eardrum (and I've had a perforated eardrum before... probably the most painful medical condition I've ever had) but this is kind of making me think twice about doing that.
