Summary: Durable goods orders up 5.5%, Non-defense capital goods up 4.4%.  This is entirely due to the sinking exchange value of the dollar of course, but it's actually somewhat relieving, as the dollar's been sinking for a while now, and there's been no discernable uptick in exports as one would expect.  So finally seeing one is a little comforting.

That said, everyone's going to say that this is going to hold job creation steady, but I call utter bullshit on that.  If there's any industry that knows how to manage a jobless increase in orders, it's capital goods and durables.  So there's no fucking way that's going to offset the job losses we are going to see in retail, which I think is going to shit the bed in the next several months.  If the economists are predicting replacement-level job creation (~40-50k) I'll take the under bet for the next several months, thank you very much.

Synopsis:  Drunk old dude gets minivan stuck on train tracks.  Bystander gets him out of the way briefly before a Metra train comes along and smashes the shit outta the vehicle.  Then about 30 seconds later, a Metra train coming the other way hits the van again, which by this time is a FIREBALL OF DOOM.  A dash-mounted police camera catches some of the action.
