I have the Ally, which has the two big things I wanted: the Android OS, and a physical keyboard.  I like it.  It was only fifty bucks with a new Verizon contract, so that worked out pretty well.

i got all excited about the epic 4g for a bit, but after looking into it more it seems like all the worst stuff about having a pc, stuck in your pocket in an extremely fragile expensive form with terrible battery life.

so now i dunno.

anyone have firsthand experience round there parts?

That's how I felt with my Incredible.  It was like... holy shit, this phone does what it's supposed to do.  SOOO FAST.

yea, its pretty damn awesome to have a phone that just does the stuff it says it does without hitching up all the time. like "oh you want to look at a webpage? here you go dude" and there it is.

this phone can do so much more shit than i would ever need to do with a phone, its pretty funny.

So my gf needs a new blackberry and right now Verizon is offering Buy 1 Get 1 Free.  If I wanna sell the second one on EBAY is there anything I need to do to it?  Can I just list it and ship the box out when it comes?  Do I need to wipe it or anything weird or do anything to it?

I got my "time to upgrade" email yesterday. Excitement!

Still can't figure out whether or not I wanna go the full-on smartphone route, or stick with my beloved, sorta smart EnV. I really have appreciated this phone.

What is it? Like $35 more a month or something?

Eh, if those dudes are good at selling, they'll probably push me out the door with a Droid.

Are you Verizon? If so, everything is $50 cheaper online.

So go in, mess around with some phon, pick a plan, make some spaghetti, and go home and figure it out online

Yay, 4G! I had to keep pestering my phone company with persistant calls to make an exception and replace my glitchy blackberry, to gimme a good deal even though I didn't qualify for one. And they did. It took 4 hours on the phone but I saved close to $500, a tidy afternoon of work.

My stupid iPhone keeps crashing while I'm on the phone. 3Gs running iOS4.1 (?) I'm about 16 months into a 24 month contract, so upgrading isn't a thing right now.

I decided I'm gonna put off the smartphone for at least one more contract. I really like my enV2 and there's a new version of it that has a lot of new features and improvements, so that's enough for me.

The hardware keyboard, which I don't really intend to use much, is actually really nice - the keys are decently sized, you don't have to press down extremely hard, and the fact that the screen slides up via arms on either side rather than just sliding flush with the keyboard is really nice.  It's a bit on the big side (especially with the gel skin thing that I bought for it), but we're still talking a comfortable size for a phone.  The camera is nice, and the integration with all of the really dope Google software products is slick as hell.  I don't think there's really anything about the iPhone that would have been worth switching providers for, given the overall niceness of this phone.

EDIT: oh and having a phone with actual GPS is pretty neat, too.  I can find out exactly how far and fast I walk on a daily basis!  Using software that's already on the phone!  This is very cool.

It looks nice!  If it had come out a few months earlier, I probably would have stuck with T-Mobile and bought it instead of switching to Verizon and getting an Ally.

Well, I had almost switched from T-Mobile to AT&T to get the iPhone, because they stopped carrying the Nexus One right around the time I decided that the stupid BlackBerry I was using was absolutely not worth it (as in, physically broken several times, through no fault of my own; stopped working in several necessary ways, etc.).  They came out with this one just in time, for me.

I'm not crazy about the new version of my beloved EnV 2. Guess I'll get it anyway, though. Battery in the old one is almost gone.

This is about a service provider rather than a phone, but I just got a bill from Verizon for $555. It's just one sheet of paper saying that's how much I owe them, and it doesn't break anything down at all, so I have no clue why they're charging me that much for using their service for all of two weeks before backing out before my 30-day trial period was over.

I hate Verizon more than anything ever.

Man, I have heard nothing but bad things about Verizon in re: billing and the resultant (lack of) customer service.  I've known a long list of people who have had something like this happen to them.
