how much roughly are you all paying for all these gigabytes? i get a massive 50mb per month on my plan (prolly cause NZ sucks) and can upgrade to 1gb for $20 more

The standard US data rates are somewhere around $25-30 for 2GB, I think. Like $10/GB overage? I think that's right.

L6L9, you're being shafted. If you're on XNet you pay about $1 per GB, and a flat fee of $40 or so.

I had a 3G unlimited plan on Verizon but when I got my Galaxy Nexus I had to switch to a 4G limited plan and got the 4 GB a month (on special) and haven't used more than 2 GB, actually. But I will, really, because I have realized that I have enough data to watch Netflix on my commute whenever I feel like it rather than just at the end of the month.

I only use my phone to send and receive calls and text messages, and as of yesterday I now pay 2 €/month for that instead of previously 30 €! I'm really stoked about that!

*I just fill my phone up as I go but always have too much credit and end up sending out annoying text messages to everyone I know just to use it up...

Sorry, I meant "send and receive" calls...

You get 1hr of voice and 60 SMS for 2 € - additional text messages cost 1 cent a piece, and I think an additional hour of calls for something like 5 €.

So that's pretty much the same plan I had before with a different company, only fifteen times cheaper.

How essential is getting a screen protector for an iPhone? I just got one. I have it in a Speck candyshell, but I passed on a screen protector in the store and now I regret it a little. I've never broken any of my personal electronics, but I just want to be sure this thing will last years.

I've had several 4s over the past two years and never put a single scratch on one of the screens. The backs would get small scratches because I'd always set them down face up, but that glass is actually pretty tough. Way tougher than any of the previous generations.

I don't have a case of any sort on my iPhone 4, and I drop it pretty regularly, and it does just fine and looks great. Same with my previous iPhones, minus the time I dropped one in a toilet anyway, although I agree that the iPhone 4 seems even more scratch resistant.

Thanks. Worry quelled. I never got a real case for my iPad either, I just keep it in the fabric sleeve I made for it two years ago, and that only has one scratch on it from an emery board accident.

Some of the candy shells fit in a way that screen protectors don't fit well anyway. I've always used a screen protector though to try to minimise the damage when I drop it (frequently), mainly the cracking/shattering kind of damage...Mine is a 3Gs that I've had since 2009 - well, I got the original in 2009 and it was one of the ones that didn't like the iOS4 upgrade, and after a couple of calls to apple, they quietly sent me a free replacement in a "we don't usually do this" kind of way, last year.

next paycheck and it's galaxy note time! or s2, can't decide. i'm thinking of going the ebay route, does anyone else have any suggestions of websites i could get one for comparably cheap? shipping to nz is the main problem...

I don't know if NZ has Amazon Wireless but I got my SGS2 cheap as hell there. That's *with* the 2yr contract but it was $80 or so, compared to $200 through the provider.

tell me them! i have very little apps! the coolest one I have is picle. it takes pictures and then records sound with the pictures. I don't use it really.
