I'm mostly going for practical.  Gonna get a copy of the California Evidence Code up in there.  I find this exciting, because I am a horrible nerd.

so far the thing that I like best is that I can now surreptitiously look at tumblr at work without the fear of onscreen butts.

and that the pictures have turned out pretty good, and I've managed to post five new listings on etsy in the past two days because of it.

my brother sends me a lot of picture messages (he's fostering kittens!) and now I can actually see them!

I got that app, cf. There's so much information! I've never actually read a sutra before, just excerpts as part of other lectures and interpretations so it'll be something to get used to.

Access To Insight, I assume? That is like—that is a real Thing for sure. It's a really impressive piece of scholarship. Their guided readings are very useful. Don't feel like you need to jump into the suttas cold.

I don't have a case of any sort on my iPhone 4, and I drop it pretty regularly, and it does just fine and looks great. Same with my previous iPhones, minus the time I dropped one in a toilet anyway, although I agree that the iPhone 4 seems even more scratch resistant.

So I shattered the glass on the back of my iPhone on Thursday. Dropped it in apparently just the wrong way on some rough concerte, and it cracked in this spidery kind of way. Phone was otherwise fine though, and today I got the glass replaced for $30 at the Apple Store—they did it right there and confirmed the phone is otherwise functioning fine. I caved and got a case though. Most of the slim ones they have at the Apple Store don't seem very protective at all, and don't curve over the front of the phone at all (and thus don't protect the front screen), so instead I got a leopard print case from J Crew next door that was actually cheaper ($22 w/student ID) and has a bit of a bumper for the front as well as covering the back. So far I like it.

When you get it, turn off Location-based services. You'll basically double your battery life.

Huh, good tip. I wonder if that's why my phone goes from like 80% to 10% charge overnight.

I really need a new phone. A big section of the screen is just dead, not responsive to touch at all, and the battery life, which was pretty good, has started to just suck worse and worse.

NB that HTC provides full support for rooted phones if a begoogled Samsung isn't appealing for them what wish to spite Apple.

My Galaxy Nexus is great; I am a big fan. I like that ICS allows you to see what is using the battery; most of my battery goes to the screen. Next generally is music apps.

How long do they provide support? Cuz my phone is an HTC G2. It's a couple years old though.
