Bang! For three lousy American dollars, sealed, not even a cutout -- did this thing fall of a truck on I-80 or something? -- it’s Jackie Wilson - The Chicago Years Volume 1, and it’s totally incredible. A future print issue of Last Plane to Jakarta will likely address in greater detail some of this record’s individual songs, which are generally so fine that my three-dollar investment seems like the steal of the century by the time I’m three minutes deep into the album. Here, I want to look briefly at the elements that make this record one of the most bitchin’ finds I’ve run into in years and years of going through the used bins.
